Australian Furniture for every room in the world

The annual Australian Furnishing Industry Awards (AFIA) are the highlight of the Furnishing Industry calendar. The awards acknowledge excellence, encourage innovation and design within the Industry and celebrate the success of the Australian furnishing sector.

Since the early beginnings of Australia as a nation the Australian furnishing industry has relied on its own ingenuity to create furnishing that has evolved with the times and shaped the industry to what it is today – unique, high quality and innovative in design, construction and application.

2016 Australian Furnishing Industry Awards

These NATIONAL Australian Furnishing Industry Awards represent a tremendous opportunity for all sectors of the furnishing industry to engage in a collaborative way to put the Australian Furnishing Industry on the world map – and help achieve the ultimate goal of Australian Furniture for every room in world!

Award categories have been consolidated for 2016 and continue to evolve to meet industry demand.

AFIA product entries will be on public display as part of the FURNITEX & design exhibition. Nominations are open to AFA members and non-members in all states and territories in Australia. 

Award Categories

AFIA is open only to Australian made products and Australian owned businesses. In 2016, nominations for the following categories will be accepted:

 

Green Award Criteria

Green Medallions will be awarded to companies who are designing and manufacturing products that have Green credentials.

Green Medallion Criteria  

Australian Living, our Jurors for the coveted Green Medallion, will consider the following when judging :

1. The Green credentials of materials used in the manufacturing process.
2. The Green credentials of the manufacturing plant (e.g. energy & water efficiencies, waste reduction, recycling).
3. What happens to the product at the end of its life (upcycled, materials reused, recycled).
4. The way the company educates specifiers and end users about why their product is Green.

2016 Awards Presentation

The National Award Winners will be announced at the Australian Furnishing Industry Awards Gala Cocktail Event on Saturday 9 July 2016 at the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre, Queensland.

Tickets will be available closer to the event.  

2015 Australian Furnishing Industry Awards

 

The 2015 Australian Furnishing Industry Awards (AFIA) were the highlight of the Furnishing Industry calendar once again this year with a record number of nominee's and a stellar judging panel that included the esteemed OAM Babette Hayes, Dr Brandon Gien, Chief Executive Officer of Good Design Australia, Cameron Baker, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Manufacturing Skills Australia (MSA) and International Judge, Zilahi Imre, Vice President of the International Alliance of Furnishing Publications (IAFP). The awards were supported by a television and digital media campaign shining the spotlight on the pinnacle of Australian Furniture – for every room in the world.
