Thursday, December 18, 2014

The Board and Management of the Australian Furniture Association (AFA) are delighted to announce the appointment of Expertise Events as partners for the Australian International Furniture and Design Fair 2015 incorporating Furnitex.

"The appointment of Expertise Events is a significant milestone for the AFA, as a national peak body operating in an international marketplace. Expertise Events is an independent Australian company which aligns with the AFA's values" says AFA CEO, Patrizia Torelli.

"We’re excited to be partnering with the experienced team at Expertise Events who come with a history of working with industry groups and creating successful events".

Managing Director of Expertise Events, Gary Fitz-Roy says "I am thrilled to work with the AFA to rebuild Furnitex". He noted that "Established in 1989, it has traditionally been one of the biggest trade events on the events calender and plays an important role in bringing buyers and sellers together."

He went on to say "this appointment to re-imagine and rebuild Furnitex will create new opportunities for the local and global market place."

A blue print of the Australian International Furniture and Design Fair incorporating Furnitex and a number of other significant industry events, will be distributed on the 19th of January. This will outline the direction and strategy to ensure the event program aligns itself with the industry’s needs to secure a global footprint and get Australian Furniture into every room in the world.

The AFA will announce the dates shortly for this important event for the Australian Furniture Industry.

Australian Furniture Association to Reimagine Furnitex

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

The Board and Management of the Australian Furniture Association have taken the important decision to terminate its License Agreement with Informa Exhibitions for the management and delivery of Furnitex.

‘As the peak governing body for the Australian Furniture industry, the AFA has reviewed the performance of this key event and determined that its purpose is no longer consistent with the vision of the Association and its members,’ says AFA Chairman Carlo Gosatti.

‘The AFA’s role has evolved to be a truly national body which seeks to continually improve its support of the members and the Australian Furniture Industry as a whole. The model which was being delivered was at odds with the AFA’s objectives and industry needs,’ he said.

‘This decision has not been taken lightly. Our action is based on member’s feedback and is aligned with the Strategic Plan of the Association and our vision to take Australian furniture into every room in the world,’ he concluded.

Details of the reimagined Furnitex event will be announced shortly.
